We are grateful and appreciate
your spending time, effort and money in traveling a great distance
to attend our wedding reception. For those of you coming from
afar, you may want to consider flying into Seattle-Tacoma (Sea-Tac)
International Airport as that is the nearest airport and hub.
For your convenience, we have included driving directions from
Sea-Tac Airport to Holiday Inn and Bremerton Hotel; and from
the hotels to the reception at McCormick Woods.
Refer to http://www.portseattle.org/seatac/
for Sea-Tac information and http://www.portseattle.org/about/maps/index.shtml#general
for maps of the airport. Sea-Tac Airport Auto rental terminal
GPS coordinates are: Lat N47° 26.5687' Long W122°
17.7509' (The coordinates are accurate the last time I was
at the terminal but this may change as Sea-Tac is undergoing
a major renovation and they are constantly shuttling things
around!)
Please be aware that, although the driving distance from Sea-Tac
Airport to Port Orchard/Bremerton is approximately 50 miles,
the driving time depends on rush hour traffic in the Seattle/Tacoma
areas. For arrival/departures during rush hour (7:00 AM thru
10:00 AM and 3:00 PM thru 6:00 PM) the driving time will be
approximately 2 hours. For all other arrival/departure times,
it is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Rush hour blues
is strictly limited to the Seattle/Tacoma area – once
you enter the west Puget Sound area, traffic is minimal and
progressively reduces the further you travel north. Rush hour
in the Kitsap Peninsula is 7:00 AM thru 7:20 AM and 4:00 PM
thru 4:20 PM when 15,000 people try to make it to work at
Puget Sound Naval Shipyard – all at the same time. Make
that 15,001 people – I work there too!
Washington State has numerous web-cams that provide real time
traffic, weather and ferry data that may help you. Refer to
http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/seattle/
Or you may take the picturesque route by ferry. Both routes
(Seattle/Bremerton and the Fauntleroy/Southworth) ferry directions
are shown in our directions. If you are lucky, you may even
get to see dolphins (or porpoises with dolphin disguises)
leading the ferries! The ferry rides are 50 minutes and 35
minutes respectively. For Washington State ferries (fares,
schedules, terminals, etc.) please see http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/index.cfm
There is also an airport shuttle to Port Orchard and Bremerton
called The Kitsap Airporter. Please refer to http://www.kitsapairporter.com/
for fares, schedules and pickup/drop-off points. It is
advisable to call ahead for reservations as the Airporter
is usually full.
Although Port Orchard has a population of only 8,060, it is
spread out over an area greater than the city of Denver or that
of San Francisco so there might be a chance of getting lost
without a map. If you do get lost, enjoy the scenery –
there are lots of little streams and creeks and woods and even
deer. Hopefully, with the maps we have included, you may not
get lost and show up at the dinner reception. If you don’t
show up, an acceptable excuse is "I was lost!". We
understand.
